This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct civil construction excavator operations in Civil construction. It includes:

• Planning and preparing for excavator operations
• Operating the excavator
• Lifting, carrying and placing materials
• Selecting, removing and fitting attachments
• Relocating the excavator
• Carrying out machine operator maintenance
• Conducting housekeeping activities associated with machine operations.
